At AltaMed Health Services, one of the largest federally qualified health centers in the U.S., art heals. I designed and developed the website that brings a curated selection of its ~4,000 artworks online.
AltaMed has maintained its art collection since the 1980s, installing it across its clinics and offices so patients and communities see themselves reflected in the artwork: their experiences, cultures, and shared histories.
Bringing it online meant building a fully integrated database-to-website platform while navigating stakeholders with competing priorities across curators, marketing, IT, and leadership.
I recommended migrating the collection database from ArtBase to Artlogic, a leading integrated art database-and-web platform. On it, I designed and developed a narrative-driven website that honors the collection's mission of representation and healing, presenting strategies to executives throughout development.
I also created brand collateral, including a brochure and digital event invitations for the opening of The Alta, AltaMed's new gallery and community wellness hub in Los Angeles.
More than half of visitors find the collection through Google search, a sign it now reaches people well beyond AltaMed's own channels, with audiences across the country from New York to Seattle.
The Alta page is the second most visited after the homepage, making the site the online home for AltaMed's new gallery and community wellness hub in Los Angeles.
Angeles has been a joy to work with, always responsive, dependable, professional, and highly creative. From building our website to designing invitations, she has always had a deep understanding of our brand aesthetic.
